Jewish and Muslim families look at their whole family to see who is best fit to lead the family or business - i.e. primogeniture is not practised.... And possibly why dynasty businesses like the Rothschilds have survived for over two centuries.

The title of Duke of Edinburgh was bestowed on Prince Philip by George VI, not the Queen. With regard to Camilla's legal status, please see my previous answer.

I can't understand why they need to change their name when they become King. Edward VIII (although not crowned, still King) - his name was David. How lovely, King David! But NO - had to be changed to Edward. Why? David is much nicer.

Edward VIII had seven names. The first was Edward, the last David.

Quite a mouthful.
