Did anyone watch the BBC news early this morning? The reporter outside Westminster Abbey talking about how, when Charles and Di got married, 600.000 people lined the streets between Buckingham Palace and the abbey. Really? Why was that then when they were married in St Paul's Cathedral. How can the BBC make such a silly error?

they all got lost. I was standing outside Westminster Cathedral, so I was really disappointed.

Just a slip of the tongue, the perils of live outside broadcasting, it could have happened to anyone.

I would normally say that aog but the broadcast was very specific. Outside Westminster Abbey, talking about possible comparisone betwee the two Royal weddings and whether the same number of people would be lining the same streets on the same route.

then the phrase "Westmiinster Abbey" will have been constantly on the tip of her tongue; and she spoke it when she shouldn't have. Like you have just spelled "between" as "betwee". Simple error, slip of the finger/tongue, easy to make. We all do it.

Point taken jno about my error. Guess you had to actually listen to the broadcast to see what I mean, the reporter (male) had obviously not done his research, it was no slip of the tongue. ;-)

Diana's funeral was at Westminster Abbey though I do not recall were the procession started. I remember the Royals tagging on at some stage. And that there were considerably more people lining the route than for the Wedding.

I do recall that on the day of the wedding of Charles and Di one of the commentators said 'and now back to the pavilion' when he meant St Pauls! Live TV you see - you never know where your mouth is going!

A more pertinent question is what news event was occurring at Westminster Abbey in the early hours of today – making it necessary for a news crew to be filming at the location?

I recall Nancy Reagan being interviewed on the steps of St Pauls just before Di and Chuck's wedding. If you remember they camped it out at Windsor, guest of Her Nibs.

When asked how things were at Windor, she replied, for posterity, "The King and Queen of Great Britain are just fine."
