/// Husband 'paid £1,400 to taxi driver to have his new wife killed ///

True, or just a normal millionaire's tip?

/// The dramatic accusations came after a two-week whispering campaign in which South African police have leaked to the media their suspicions of Mr Dewani.///

Reminiscent of something from Wikileaks

maybe he was paid a handsome sum by her parents AOG, they do seem to have strange (to us) habits
Insurance scam?
Another woman?

I thought that it was an odd story from the start
Why would he want to kill this beautiful girl - it does'nt make sense.
if there is a dowry paid, who actually gets it?
This is really shocking - I would suggest that he had her insured for a large sum but it seems he didn't need the money......bizzare!
DEN.....what....the one with the xmas hat on ?

Never seen you smile. ;-)
There is something very odd with this case,if they were kidnapped for ransom etc,why throw him out of the taxi, why kill her.
I believe he was/is quite a wealthy buisnessman mia

<<<<seems he didn't need the money.<<<<

One always needs MORE money !!
According to the News he hasn't been questioned over the matter.

Bobbi...the husband is already wealthy so I don't think money is the motive.

That's if it is even true...
No I was indeed suggesting money had been paid as is an Asian custom, either to the Brides parents or to her husband...read what I said..dowry???
Exactly.......I can't imagine what his reasoning was. Maybe the police in the area aren't exactly au fait with the full facts......?
I believe that whilst he is supposed to be independently wealthy, his business owes millions........
I was trying to say...
dowrys tend to be commonpace in Asian culture, like a arranged marriage, theres sometimes a gift of money either to the husband or to the parents, I am not sure who, hence my question about a dowry
JTH.....good point. e.g Polypeck and the Cypriot guy.
Sqad - I have been playing around with the website that puts hats on photos and it worked.......I have not a lot to smile about at the moment....(:0 (

I did read somewhere that the husband was in a lot of debt.

/// Mr Dewani's spokesman, Max Clifford, has repeatedly insisted that he is nothing other than a victim.///

Max Clifford, it's amazing that guy seems to get everywhere, what special talents has he got, is he just one of a kind?

Why doesn't the Government employ him to sort their problems out?
The cab driver is currently 'plea bargaining' with the police, so anything is possible. Can he present the cash and show its source was the victim's husband?
.
What was the husband thinking of when he took his wife into a black township at night ?
Surely everyone knows that South Africa has the highest murder rate in the world, esp. in the townships ?
