I can under stand why they want to protest as my son went through uni and it cost us enough back then in 1999-2003.
But how does this violence look for our country. Its no wonder we were not given the world cup venue when we behave like this. I dont think theres any need for violence

However, having said that, Im glad they scared the sh*t out of the royals. Now Charlie will know how Diana felt being hounded by the press as she drove around which caused her death !!

disgusting actions by the future doctors and teachers of this country.
"poor hard done by students" "we cant afford to pay our student loans"
i wonder how they will pay for a criminal damage charges that could be bought against them for all the smashed windows ect...T..W,,A,,T,,S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree that the behaviour of these students cannot be condoned however I understand why they are so angry. If successive governments hadn't allowed the 'dumbing down' of 'A' Levels (I was a teacher and know wherof I speak), the proliferation of 'soft' degree courses and had encouraged apprenticeships we would have far fewer youngsters wanting to go to university. If the numbers were down then there might be enough money in the pot to pay for them as there was when my generation went to Uni. A lot of young people do not really wish to go to Uni. but are forced into it because of the ridiculous qualifications needed to obtain even lowly employment. Whatever happened to learning on the job and progressing up through the ranks? It is outrageous that these young people will have to put themselves into debt especially when jobs are scarce and they have no guarantee of work at the end of it.
Having said that there is never any excuse for violence.

If they dont get a job at the end of their course, the don´t have to repay one penny.
Yes sqad, but eventually they are going to get a job one hopes, otherwise we will be paying them benefits instead of grants. Also by going to Uni. they are over-qualifying themselves for some of the jobs that are available.
cazz........exactly, but it would be interested to know how many of these unruly yobs were indeed medical students or those studying for an old established degree. My guess?...very few....the majority would be those on "mickey mouse" courses....in my opinion.
agree 100% sqad, most med students dont bugger off when they are supposed to be at uni learning.
jack - love it! Pretty much what I said in my first post but in more direct and colourful language!
tiger......if and when they do get a job they will have to earn over 21,000 UK pounds before they start to repay anything and the greater their salary the more they will have to repay..........poor pay less....rich pay more.....seems fair to me.

You last point is a fair one.....the last 13years we have seen a policy of Education Education Education.....more unsuitable students going to Uni to more unsuitable courses and who do they expect tp pay for this?

The UK is in financial strife.
JTH...Exactly.
sqad, most Uni Ss expect to earn more than that - we know that loads of them will end up unemployed or taking the same jobs that school leavers do but the Ss have an overinflated sense of entitlement and they all think they are going to be successful. The whole system needs a massive overhaul and fees are just a small part of it.
tiger....maybe....but how many more "overalls" of the Education System are we to have?
Over the past decade and a half, there semms to have been a different approach on an annual basis.
Blair's idea of 50% of people going to university was always ridiculous.
mike.....I agree.......but the electorate loved it.
Mike - agree.
TheOtherHalf, is it possible to discuss anything in this country without dragging the late tiresome Diana into it?
As far as the "students" were concerned, where were they when Labour were in power with not entirely different policies?
The whole shambles is a vehicle for the Marxists to get out onto the streets and do what they ususally do, ie feigning concern for others.
/// surely though, knowing what was going on in London, why did they arrive in such a conspicuous car? ///

Why shouldn't the Heir to the Throne and his wife feel it safe to drive through their Capital without the fear of being attacked by a mob ready to do them harm?

I feel I must criticise their body guards, they should have never allowed these 'bits of scum' to get even close to the car, if that had been the President of America car, those that got that close would have been gunned down.
but jack... if universities are abolished, how will our future leaders be able to dress up in knee breeches and trash restaurants?
