This woman is a menace, is this another way of increasing our already generous overseas aid by the 'back door'?

I agree with JTH about it going directly to the families but as I said before it is sending out the wrong message to others round the world. The UK has one of the highest immigration influxes in Europe and people wonder why. Well wonder no more.
^ I certainly rarely believe everything I read........
L33 - your not Harriet Harman are you ?
I'm not going to sit here and argue with you L33. I used to interview asylum seekers several years ago so I don't really need you to tell me what is what.
So it's all Tigger's fault, interviewing them instead of shooting them.
Tigger - some people will always believe, the sun is out, the roses are red and everything is lovely in the garden. If only that were true. My friend also works in a Benefits Office in East London. Mind Bogling.

l would have done Mike but then that would contravene their oooman rights!

Some need to wake up and smell the coffee Den!
No they didn't, however several used to come up to my desk and say the word "benefits" rather than "Asyl ples".
I have no problems with hard working immigrants who are contributing through taxation etc sending money home, many Brits do the same, but if they are sending benefits home then they are getting to much.As for future immigrants having a job to come to, the ability to speak English, and a willingness to "join in", must be conditions of entry.Maybe we should recruit more Ghurkas to help out the police control protesters and troublemakers.

Even the one apologist on this thread has admitted that the benefits system and immigration policy need urgent review. It's undeniable that the two go hand in hand.
IMO, for as long as we advertise free money they will continue to flock here untill a point is reached when as a host Nation we have become as poor as the country they have arrived from.
Only then will the incentive to come here be removed.

Years ago there used to be a shoe shop chain called 'Benefits'. I would have said, "Straight out the door, third shop on the left.". I probably wouldn't have lasted long, but would at least have gone home with a smile on my face.

Exactly L33, free money form us taxpayers. The UK has its own serious financial problems at the moment so I can't see where Harman gets off encouraging it.

Eddie yes, there are people here with young children who would love to have an extra tenner in their pockets. Not all of them spend it on beer and fags. Some are struggling to buy their first home, while some gangster or begging bowl comes over here and takes it from us.
Sadly it won't affect her 'career', if that's what you want to call it. Would that it could!
