Puffed up prat, or has he got a point? could the Libertives go on without him? Personally I think he has an over inflated opinion of himself, they'd just pick a new boy and carry on, leaving Vincey boy on the back benches whinning about the good old days "When I was in power......"!

Several years ago, he said one thing about the banks that he subsequently retracted (more or less) which, when the banking crisis finally came about, some people picked up on as indicating that he was an economic guru. Most things that he has said or done since indicate that he is just a buffoon.

If you have a major character on the backbenches for dissatisfaction to gravitate to you can be in big trouble.

This will be much more of a problem after the vote on PR.

At that point the Liberals will have lost their main reason to be in the coalition. Things could start to unravel rather badly after that.

The ConDems was always going to be an uneasy Coalition, and Cable vocalising his dissatisfaction, privately and off the record, is no surprise. This is damaging for Cable though, and he is already regretting saying it. However, it is in the Coalition's interest to steady the ship, and carry on regardless.

I suspect the cracks in the LibDems will position will widen after the Oldham East Bye-Election where I suspect they will do very badly (in a seat they almost won). Clegg will become very unpopular in his own party.

I don't think the Coalition will go the full Five years.

Couldn't agree more - resigning might seem like a nuclear option to him, but to the government it would be more like a damp squib, methinks.

I agree craft, he looks a fool more than anything - he was acting the big 'I am' in front of a couple of people he thought were just constituents - I'll bring down the Govt, I'll do this that and the other etc etc - probably just teling them what he thought they wanted to hear like politicians do - now he looks like a twit.

I cannot relate to any of them. Cameron sounds more like a spiv every time he speaks, Clegg is his lackey - making the most of his brief time in power, and Ed Milliband is just a weak Willey. No-one speaks for the vast majority of working class people in this country. If you know of any, please tell us.

Cable declares War on Murdoch.

Apparently, the transcript of the interview with undercover Daily Telegraph reporters, which was published today under the heading "the Full Transcript" had in fact been self-censored by the Telegraph, and omitted an explosive declaration that he planned to stop Murdoch.

It will be interesting to see if the Murdoch Empire now rally for his sacking. I expect a bumpy ride for Cable from now on.

The liberals have lived in their weak, woolly world surrounded by pro-europe do-gooders for so long they can not cope with the reality of real government and if they lose the referendum on alternative voting their whole raison d'ëtre will be lost. Vince Cable doesn't know which way to go
in many ways he and the Libs were left of Labour so what chance do they stand in coalition with any party apart from maybe the Greens.
