woofgang...no! no!....if you are going to make mistakes, it would be prudent to make them on NHS patients rather than Private patients.

For vanity, ie. simply because you don't like the way you look? Definitely not. The same goes for the "Ooooohhh, I was born in the wrong body" - no way.

However, a person cruelly disfigured in an accident (or done maliciously) may have a case for the milk of human kindness (and public money) to make an exception.
sex changes aren't "vanity surgery". I think cosmetic surgery shouldn't be paid for by the public except following accidents and burns and so on. Sex change surgery I don't really have a problem with but it should probably be extremely low priority.
