Apart from it being most offensive to most Christians.

Is it any worse than what can be seen on most militant Muslim's placards, when they protest on our streets?

The difference being do the police go out and interview these 'artists'?

Jesus was the only person crucified....
Controversial? Yes.

Do people also need to really just get a life? Also yes.

I'm sure there's 'worse' art.
"Apart from it being most offensive to most Christians."

i would have thought david beckham would be "most" offended by it.
It looks nothing like.................either of them.
Ankou, I'm not sure ... it's taken years off him.

And reading the article I actually agree with the artists sentiments.
Vibes, your rhetoric knows no bounds today. ;-)

well if its good enough for boy george.....

maybe he'll put it into his private collection, job done.
I'd have thought the message of the painting was glaringly obvious! Too obvious to be fair if you're looking at it as a peice of art. Still, teh artist has his name in the papers so he'll be loving it!
I get that Christians will be offended, but what is the actual reason why? Is it not supporting the Christian beliefs surrounding worshipping a false idol?

ummmm

/// Jesus was the only person crucified.///

I don't think so, there were many (since it was the method of execution at the time), including the two robbers who died by his side.
Its a piece of art and yet again the "religionistas" go up in arms. You reckon the vatican is going to send out a fatwa?
Exactly....like Paul said...it's very obvious what message the artist was trying to portray. But Christians cannot claim the crucifix image as solely theirs.
In this picture, at the top of the cross, where the Roman warrant authorizing Christ's crucifixion was pinned, there's an American currency note. Is the artist saying the Americans ruined Becks?
Sandy irony?

Filthy lucre
What I find offensive is that:-
a. Someone clearly thought that they had a right to try to get the Police to act on their behalf to take down a socially relevent piece of art just because they were personally offended by it.
b. The police did so.
Yep I agree with Nox
it's got the be a case of "I don't like it, I don't know why I don't like it but it looks like something I shouldn't like! Why should I think for myself.. I wan't rid and I'll do something about it!"
David Beckham has long been famous for his cross. It's his penalty kicks that need reporting.
