Most people would have been in bed when Di died. I think it happened in the early hours of the morning.
9-11 I was walking my dog along the riverbank.

September 11th - I was in a small independent sports shop.

Michael Jackson - In my living room.

Diana - heard early as I was up feeding the baby.

I was more concerned on 7/7 when I heard it on the radio and knew my Dad and one of my brothers were both travelling around London.

Don't remember 9/11 and the other two I was watching the tv when they flashed up.

2) watching tv, laughing that a knew it! I told the bf not to buy tickets because I knew in my gut the show wasn't going to happen.

I was on holiday with my daughter and granddaughter in Spain, the sound wasn't on the tvs dotted around the hotel so we were unsure at first what was happening. A real shocker, but being on holiday in the sun etc it didn't seem real.
Princess Di... I got up very early about 6am and turned on the TV, something I never do normally and the news was just coming in. I don't remember where or what I was doing when Michael Jackson died.

9/11 - At home - and instantly worrying about my husband's friends and colleagues, many of whom died.

Michael Jackson - On AB.

Diana - In Kenya - and on the day of her funeral I looked from my balcony and there were only two people out sunbathing. Evidently everyone else was watching CNN.

1, In a charity shop they had the radio on. The first words afterwards I heard were from a 16/17 year old girl, she said "Serves 'em right I 'ate Yanks"
2, Having our evening meal, Heard it on TV..
£, I was up early, couldn't sleep, put TV on & they were talking of this tragic death, the presenters were all dressed in black but It was quite a while before I realised it was Princess Di. I thought it was 'The Queen Mother' I was in shock.

& what about President Kennedy? - I had just put the kids to bed, it was about 7.15pm, I switched the TV on (black & white) & there were all the shocking pictures.

I heard about the crash in the early hours whilst watching Sky news in the pub but it hadn't been confirmed that Diana had died at that time. We just sat there glued to the set until about 4am and then went to bed.

2: (Diana) At home having given birth a week before. (M.J) not sure but probably at home as i'm pretty much housebound now.
The only one of those 3 things I cared about was September the 11th, I despised Diana and M.J.

September 11th - Had just got in from Law School and my housemate called me into her room where she was watching it on the television. We were just sat there in shock watching it and were watching when the second plane struck.

Michael Jackson - I'd been at the outdoor cinema in Manchester. Heard someone shout something but hadn't paid attention then a friend texted me saying she had seen it on the news.

Princess Diana - I was residential volunteering in Southport and one of the lads came up to the room I was in and we thought he was joking until we went downstairs for the morning meeting and saw on the news for ourselves. I was on the way back home on the day of the funeral - at Chester railway station changing train and had just randomly bumbed into a guy I had met at a previous time volunteering (very random, he lived in Scotland, me in Shropshire). We did the silence together.

naomi, he said he didn't believe it when it happened. Fair enough, both were extraordinary pieces of news.

9/11: out shopping, caught it on TV when I got home. (second tower had already gone down.)
Jackson: on a cruise
Di: in bed; woken with the news in the wee small hours. I'm not sure she was dead at that stage.
Elvis: on a campsite, read the headline on a paper in the back of someon'e car.
Kennedy: on a bus, saw a newspaper billboard.
Norman conquest: tending my pigs for the lord.
