Couldn't have been all that much of an emergency taking into account that Mr Obama first hosted a concert at the White House.to celebrate Black History Month.
The question must be asked why only Britain, France and Italy, why isn't the United Nations not involved?
Perhaps the Italians should be amongst the last to get involved, taking into account their past record in Libya.

We most likely have to stay out of it, where are we to get the troops from?
They are needed in Afghanistan, needed to man the prisons if the prison staff come out on strike, needed for the Royal Wedding and then for the Olympics.
Not to mention the likely chance of a General Strike or any other Civil Disobedience.

AOG - you seem to understand where he's coming from - if bazwillrun doesn't update, perhaps you can...what has 'white history month' or the lack thereof got to do with the current conflict in Libya and the White House's response.

Obama would like to tie his hands on the problem and has said in the past regional problems should be handled by states in that region which includes the 3 military countries you mention. That is why he wanted Turkey to become part of the EU no matter what we thought of the stupid idea. I'm glad Blair has gone walkies because he would have jumped at the chance to throw the EUs weight around at the behest of Lord almighty Obama sitting in his ivory tower.
