I thought the lefties on here would give it more credibility comming from the Guardian.
If our Government says it represents the figures 2012, then why is it so far out then for Iran to think it represents the word Zion.

A diplomatic incident straight away, that's even before these pesky games take place.
It would be a shame if the world class athletes from Iran couldn't attend. Might as well cancel the games...
It still makes me laugh that the BBC had the following logo proudly displayed on their home page during a contest to design a logo.

Pretty rich of dinnerjacket given he was born a Jew.
Zion, what utter rubbish. It spells Jiz
I remeber the day it was announced as the logo winner I was listeneng to the radio in my car, got home turned on my PC found the pic of it and thought i had the wrong story, I couldnt believe this piece of garbage had won.

I didnt even realise it said 2012 until reading th accompanying story and it was "explained"

pathetic and laughable....dinnerjacket is the same but also dangerous
It would be tragic if Iran boycotts the games. In fact, there is a danger that the rest of the arab world might follow their lead. The western countries might not then bother to take part, fearing that the competition may be seen as "devalued". The handful of countries aligned to neither camp may consider it's not worth laying out for the fare here and the whole thing may as well be cancelled.

What a result! It will mean I'll also save a few bob as I plan to clear off from the UK for three weeks to somewhere where sanity might be retained for the duration. (Quite where that might be I have not yet established.
Dont be silly , hows it a tradegy ?

The arabs arent in the sports where the "big medals" are

if theyre not in it then theyre not in it, so what ?!
it does look like Zion (read it from top to bottom rather than left to right), rather more than it looks like 2012. That's what comes of hiring Design Consultants.
PS Iran is not part of "the Arab world", though they're doing a pretty good job of taking it over - having lured the USA into deposing one Arab leader in Iraq, and trying to influence the Egyptian revolt.
