I'm undecided on this matter. We have to do something but don't want to get bogged down in another Iraq type affair.

Oil is the only factor here i see. As there are many confilcts all over the world and espically in Africa. In 2008 the deaths in Congo was up 5.8 Million and many more displaced. The Rwanda genocide cost 1,000,000 lives. There are far more terrible leaders in Africa than Gaddafi. President Robert Mugabe to name but one. So why Libya? Oil is the only answer. It hits us all at the fuel pumps, cost of food etc.

So is Military action the answer?

What you hope to achieve from involving the military? And I take it you mean British military as there is, with reference to Libya already military involved. War will not solve these countries problems, as there will always be someone to take over the dictators place.

With Libya not just our SF. I mean as far as boots on the ground, jets in the air and ships off the shore. From all NATO with UK leading.

War is never the answer but can we stand on the side lines, watch Gaddafi kill 1,000s.
There will never be a straight forward answer for what is best to do. But with reference to Libya, they don't want our help, they want to sort it out for themselves, which I personally find very admirable.
I'm rather mift with your comment "oil is the only factor here". Although many anti-military/anti-Government readers will agree with you, I find it quite sickening you believe that our Government would use the slaughtering of thousands of Libyan people, as an excuse to aquire oil.
Don't get me wrong, I am in no way naive enough to belive that the dictatorship is the sole reason for talk of military intervention, however, I find it inconsevable that you believe oil is the only reason.
Forgive me if I am wrong, but I'm pretty certain Bosnia has no oil reserves, yet we still intervened due to the genocide that took place at the hands of Slobodan Milosovic, in which 8-9000 Bosniaks were killed in the genocides and the remaining 25-30,000 were forced to leave.
As I have mentioned, I know there must be secondary reasons for the talk of military intervention, but I stand by the Government in the fact that I believe the most important factor is the protection of innocent Libyans from the crazed dictator.
Military intervention is a must whether it be by means of a no fly zone or by boots on the ground. Let us be rid of this lunatic and make a stand for democracy.
MCR--83,
You obviously need to keep more up to date on current affairs. I seem to recall you saying "but with reference to Libya, they don't want our help, they want to sort it out for themselves". In actual fact, that was the case, but recently it has emerged that they are calling for a no fly zone and as stated in 'The Times' dated 10th March 2011, crowds have been chanting words to the effect of 'Where is Obama, we want a no fly zone'.
In future, before you post comments, ensure they are correct.
What invading another Muslim country. Libya is 98% Muslim mostly Sunni. The real reason can't be we're protecting the civilians, Mugabe has been doing that for years and we never attacked him. Must be to do with oil!
It seems I stand corrected, for my sloppyness I stand corrected! If only The Guardian I usually read at Starbucks hadn't been taken!

J-Dam10 you cant possibly stand there and think oil is not a factor. Yes Gaddafi is a terrible dictator but why him? If Democacy is your shout then surely we should leave them be. We have had our fair share of civil wars, bloodly conflicts, in our rise to a decomcratic state.
