Is it our fault?

First we sent into Libya the SAS, to help out the rebels, only for them to be captured and then kicked out of the country, now we have situation were our aid workers were stuck in Tokyo airport and then they are sent home because they don't have the correct papers.
Mistakes have been made by our Foreign Office maybe, but our media can't wait to cry out for British blood, yes Haigh must go, the civil servants at the Foreign Office must be weeded out etc, etc. and just as some on AB.are always quick to point out, the Brits are the ones to blame.
Wouldn't it make a refreshing change , for the media to state that 'Johnny Foreigner' just does not want our 'proffered help' so s0d them, let them get on with it, and keep our resources for our own peoples?

Zeuhl - my response was about your entire post - i cannot see the connection between a conversation you have had with someone, and how that relates to the way you conduct a conversation on the AB.
if that is a valid position, then my current tiredness (I was up in the night with a tummy upset) entitles me to call you a miserable t*ss*r!!
Which of course i would never do, because it is personally insulting, has nothing to do with the debate, and is not excused by something unconnected with the site.

Andy
sorry you were ill - hope you feel better.
You may see that I answered your points in an earlier post. Essentially;
<<I wasn't issuing insults or making subjective name calling such as t0ss@r - I was making a reasonable observation (lies, stupidity or illiteracy) based on the evidence inherent in AOG's post to explain why it was so misleading>>
The pertinence of my post about my friend in tokyo was to juxtapose the scale of her problems with Old Git's bruised ego and refusal to 'play with rough boys' any more.
Does that help?
Get well.

As far as the Tokyo incident is concerned, it is a pity someone couldn't show some initiative, but I guess most of us are concerned about not going by the book and getting into trouble for it. Heck there's too much bureaucracy everywhere anyway. Everything needing triple checking and a ream of signed paperwork. Heck, it was an offer of help, not a request for something.
As for the Libya thing, well it just sounded a crackpot plan to me. Not that I've bothered to check into the details. Seems to me that one was a fair cop to say it was the fault of those in charge thinking it was ok to try to sneak in.

<<AOG was continually called Jackthehat stupid and questioning her intelligence.>>
I didn't kow that. It wouldn't be the only time though would it?
So Yummy.
Let me get this straight... Have you made this bed?
If I'm going to get into it so you can get in with me I will need to know where it is.
BTW Do you prefer the left or right side? Or is that irrelevant in the circumstances?
:-)

/// he means that you have sided with Zuel so now you and AOG cannot be friends, he also wants his scooter back, his teddy and you are not having a sleep over at his on Friday ///
One would be excused for thinking that one had strayed over to a pre-teens chat site.
Words fail me, how possibly can an adult come up with this kind of post by issued by triggerhippy.

Cheers Andy
I suppose to some people the News is not much more than raw material to project existing beliefs/prejudices/agendas in a 'cut and thrust' kind of way.
For others, me included, it's important to respect truth, accuracy and fairness in referencing News items above those agendas that people like Old Git seem to enjoy exercising.
In this case for instance, it would be regrettable if someone had read the original question then gone away and spread the idea that the Japanese were turning away rescue teams at the airport refusing them entry into the country when that simply didn't happen.
Take care.

That's a fair point well made Zeuhl.
In matters of humanitarian crisis, no media should be allowed to infer that any country would put red tape above the needs of its people - Japan have clearly not done so, and you have worked eloquently to ensure that no-one on this thread is under that impression.
