Gene a young American Immigrant after hard work and savings buys a bright glittering pair of Italian shoes and goes to a dance with his new found friend Rita in the local hall.

He dances with Rita, after a while he comes back depressed and sits down. Rita cheers him up and he goes again, dances some more and comes back.

After a while his face lights up.

He starts dancing with Rita again and asks her "Rita, please, please tell me, are you not wearing panties to-night?"

Rita's face glimmers with hope, and with shyness says, "Yes Gene dear, I wear no panties, but now how did you know?"

Gene sighs with relief, relaxes and says, "For a while I thought my shoes had cracks in it."
