There were three Indian squaws. One slept on a deer skin, one slept
on an elk skin, and the third slept on a hippopotamus skin. All three
became pregnant. The first two each had a baby boy. The one who
slept on the hippopotamus skin had twin boys. This just goes to prove
that.......

the squaw of the hippopotamus is equal to the sons of the squaws
of the other two hides. (Some of you may need help with this one).

Mathematics.
One example from Milton Jones,
I baked an apple pie and took it to Slough, Standish and Crewe.
Turns out the teacher said take pie to 3 DECimal places.
Very clever, for anyone in the dark, think geometry!
Or pie_thagorus, Sir A
The hippopotanuse gives it away!
My maths teacher used to tell us that one and I left school in 1968 .
One scally I used to teach amused the rest by calling it the harrypotterspubes, I still get a smile when I hear the word.
I first heard this one in 1955
There were a few more doing the rounds at the time, thanks to "My Word!", a radio prog. which featured inter alia Frank Muir.
"People who live in grass houses shouldn't stow thrones"
"Super collie, fragile lipstick. expect halitosis"

etc.
Good one

I hadn't heard this particular joke before, it came from my cousin in New Zealand, who may possibly heard it the first time round!
"(Some of you may need help with this one)."
I think you may need help!! ;0)
The best ever from My Word was when Frank Muir was given the phrase: "As they passed over the trumpets sounded on the other side." After a long shaggy dog story about two young men trying to get to France in search of sexual adventure, he ended up with: "As they passed Dover, the strumpets undid on the other side"
