Just watching it now whilst doing the ironing .... do you believe in psychics ? if so have you any stories to tell ? i believe in the afterlife but havent any proof , just something i feel inside

I believe that some people find them entertaining, but thats about it. I do not believe they can offer a ronseal guarantee, and there are far too many reports of cold-reading, hot-reading, listening in on the audience, asking the audience to fill out forms! of who they expect to contact, etcetc.
And I have seen no evidence to support the notion that self-proclaimed psychics can do anything other than self-promotion and making money....

Oh, I have personal experiences, I would fight anyone that tried to tell me that MY experiences weren't true.
However, these TV psychics are a farce. I imagine they find out peoples names from the credit/debit cards they pay on, compare that to local hotel bookings etc etc, then run their names against sites such as facebook. Many people poor their heart out on facebook, and most people that go to the tv shows have someone to find. Not really psychic, more like a good researcher.

I went to a psychic a while back well away from where I live and she was excellent. Many people dismiss them as charlatans who prey on the vulnerable but the woman I saw is in the judiciary and therefore trustworthy. Anyway she told me a lot about myself, my late wife, my kids and my wife's twin brother and his wife. She also mentioned that I was in a relationship and that I should have her accompany me in the reading. When my gf came in she, the psychic, was immediately troubled by 2 women bearing the same name trying to 'come through' - my late wife and the gfs mother had the same name - a fact that she would not have known or could have guessed beforehand. She even told the gf about her grandkids and that one of them has ADHD - again she could not have known that. My views on psychics in general is that the only person who knows they are genuine is the person who is being 'read'.

The fact that 3 entertainers wish to preserve their lavish lifestyle by agreeing with each other that they can speak to the dead is not any kind of evidence that they do genuinely have the ability....
As far as personal experiences and anecdotes go - one sees many of these - but they are all based upon subjective recall of conversations, reliant upon memory alone mostly, and can, with all due respect, be coloured by opinion - they might be interesting, might even be food for thought - but anecdotes are a very poor form of evidence...

When I had my 'reading', LazyGun, evrything was written down as it was spoken and I have these notes at home. I passed copies to my 2 sons - their first reaction was that they also wanted to go and see the woman whom I had seen. If they can be convinced then that's good enough for me. As I said previously, not all are con artists.
Well, having a contemporaneous written record would be a step up the evidence ladder - I presume the notes were written at the time, rather than after the event?
In any event, if genuine ability was demonstrated, you should encourage that psychic to undertake the Randi Challenge - If they can replicate their ability and demonstrate genuine psychic ability in a properly controlled environment, she would be making history, changing the laws of physics, and become instantly one of the most famous people on earth - Oh, and be 1 million dollars better off!
