Tesco's Crisis

3 profit warnings, the announcement today about having to write down profits by 1/4 billion and the share price collapsing by 11% - Tesco's have just announced a store expansion programme and 20000 new jobs to be created as a growth strategy out of the crisis.

The Polish Prime Minister, Ewa Kopacz, is apparently delighted to hear this news.

What works for a business or household, which are purely interested in costs and income in relation to itself, does not necessarily work for a country which has the prime concern of ensuring wealth flows in circles boosting confidence and the national economy. Usually a government has more freedom to spend and kick off an economic upward trend where commercial concern (or domestic home) is busy batoning down the hatches expecting the other guys to take the risk.
