What Cats Do For Us

Warm our laps
Give us someone to talk to
Help reduce high blood pressure
Bring the winter air inside, nestled in their coats
Create a kindred feeling with other "cat people"
Turn common household objects like bottle caps into toys
Make us more aware of birds
Donate their services as alarm clocks
Display daring acrobatic feats right in front of our eyes
Contribute to living a longer life
Make a window sill more beautiful
Keep mice on the run
Make us smile
Inspire poets and playwrights
Teach us how to land on our feet
Let us indulge our desires to really spoil someone
Make our homes warmer
Remind us that life is mysterious
Share with us the all-is-well experience of purring
Instruct us in the luxurious art of stretching
Show us how to lick our wounds and go on
Give us cool cartoon characters
Make even an old worn couch look beautiful
Open our hearts

Foul our neighbour's vegetable garden
Slaughter all the songbirds
Wail loudly in the middle of the night
Dig claws into unwary visitors
Spray *** over other cats
Breed like rabbits
marval and canary - they do all the things that you have both mentioned. Most of the time we mere humans love our cats very much. The rest of the time we want to throttle the illegitimate little devils.

But they look very very cute and innocent
Lol canary I agree with both you and marvel. Mostly with marvel tho. I loved my cat I miss him terribly.
Where do cats go at night ? - they seem to be more tough than your typical namby pamby dog , who is safely tucked up indoors .
Bazile - I would rather go into battle with a huge dog than a cute little pussy cat. Cats are fully armed and if they don't want to do something and you try to force them to one of you is going to spill some blood.

I think that many cats that go out all night have second homes - sort of like bigamists.
murph sleeps in my bed all night, usually in a place that's uncomfortable for me
And that's where I want my lovely dog Bazile, safely tucked up indoors !

Baz, are you advocating Dogs should be thrown out at night to roam the streets in packs?
I haven't seen a pack of dogs roaming the streets for years.

Many cat owners now keep their cats in at night. Frankie usually sleeps under the duvet with me and his sister has a cardboard box that she likes.

I miss having a dog but I live in a flat and it isn't an ideal situation.
