also... a man goes into a butchers shop in the winter. The butcher is standing in front of a radiator. Customer says " is that your Ayrshire bacon"? The butcher says, "naw, it's ma hands am warming'".

As a sassenach I may be wrong but I think to greet in Scottish parlance is to weep,sob,or cry.I think I heard my late Scottish m-i-l tell me to stop greeting whenever she visited.
