I have just returned from Tesco and while I was there, there was an altercation in the entrance. Two young women were stopped by the Security Guard, because they were wearing pajamas and dressing gowns. They complained bitterly and become abusive but left in a cloud of swear words.
Did these women really think it was OK to go shopping in public dressed like that ?
People shop at our local Tesco wearing onesie's which in my opinion isn't much different to pyjamas. This has been in the papers before regarding someone shopping in their dressing gown at Tesco. I wonder what it is about Tesco mikey!
I've heard there is security at Waitrose that won't let you in if you're wearing black before 8 pm or white shoes after Labor Day -and so very rightly so! ;-)
When I worked in a small corner shop one 'lady' often used to come in wearing pyjamas and slippers. She lived in one of the upstairs flats.
Her husband had a starring role in an episode of Watchdog - he was a plumber.
So, yes, some people do think it is ok, unfortunately.
I try not to be precious about what another is wearing. There must be limits but I'm unsure what they are when it comes to simply representing yourself and your taste. That said I can see a supermarket may have standards it wishes to uphold re what those visiting them look like: it would be up the Tesco in that situation.
Once I collected for charity outside Tesco on a Sunday morning - and so watched the people coming in. Saw such a huge array of clothing. One woman was dressed as if she was visiting a night club. When you are going in and out doing your shopping you don't notice much, but that day I was amazed at the wide range of styles.
