I did watch the programme on Boris Pasternak, very insightful and interesting.
Will keep an eye out for any others like it on BBC, especially on BBC4.
How he got through the cold war i will never know.

if anyone is interested its on BBC4 I Player. Recommended.
I'm pleased you thought it worthwhile, Emmie. One can never be sure if recommendations will be well received. I recall a book club asking me for a recommendation which I was pleased to give. They hated it. Oops! :o)

Stalin seems to have had a soft spot for his poetry. I got the impression that saved his life. Sad that he was unable to receive his Nobel Prize in person though.

Made me chuckle - they shouldn't have asked then :-)
Mein Kampf isn't to everyone's taste.
:o)
Actually as I recall it was The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon - an excellent read in my opinion but sadly not in theirs. Oh well ....I don't do Barbara Cartland. ;o)
Up late, Naomi. Thought I was in for a *** there. ;-)
Very subjective, isn't it, literature. Maybe more so than anything else.
Too tired to nag anyone - well at least I think I am - could depend. Just come home from the theatre which is why I'm late - and having a little glass of wine and a quiet meander around AnswerBank before bed.
Spicerack, it is indeed.
