Came down for a quick snack, only to find a mice scurrying about dining room. He / she is a feisty thing and quite brave, put some nice blue food down for it and any friends. Had some in the sheds earlier this year after the bird / chicken food., they obviously followed it inside the house.

Yes Lynne I normally am but Jen is not Squeamish and will prefer the house to be rodent free.
Might have to get the snappy trappy's out ( as much as I dislike that type of thing ) or you may find yourself over run with them.
Question Author
We live in a semi rural area with orchard behind us so only to be expected, and as soon as it gets chilly they are bound to seek somewhere a bit warmer.

Use peanut butter as bait. They don't harm the mouse at all, and you can release them away from your property.
Question Author
Yes Tonyav but I prefer not to use them. Last time I did only caught victim on end of nose and I had to get up and dispatch it.
Question Author
ok Jimf good price I will get a couple yes know about peanut butter or chocolate as a bait.
I know what you mean, TonyV. I remember having to do something similar with my younger brothers pet Jerboa many many years ago after it managed to escape it's cage and my mom's cat found it and 'played 'with it .
Question Author
JimF ordered some, a more humane method and can be left out all year round, we have friends that visit with dogs so have to be careful with edible baits.

Yes Tonyav years ago I had a rescue cat, she was a devil, how she managed to dispatch a pigeon twice her size and pull it through cat flap I will never know. She always delivered me some amphibioum of some sort when she was on her nightly "hunts"
In previous a house with open land at the rear, our cats often brought us, "presents," dead mice and dumped them on the back doorstep.
Question Author
Mine never normally killed anything apart from pigeon which she ripped apart, normally her finds were delivered alive and well on my pillow.

Yes, we had a rescue kitten some years ago ( Daisy ) and she managed to hunt and capture ( in her very sharp teeth )wood pigeons and then drag them ... gawd knows how ... over a 6 foot garden fence back into our garden still flapping all over the place...... look mommy and daddy I've bought you a present !
Question Author
Mice have been having some "food"
Mmmmmm, won't be around for much longer then.
Question Author
yes tonyav it must be something in their genetics that they deliver gifts to their food / warm home providers.
Makes me wonder if they ( the cat ) see us as the kittens sometimes.
Question Author
No tonyav poison I use is professional grade that will dehydrate mice bodies and leave no odour wherever they decide to die. We have old house with lots of hiding places.
Question Author
