Samsung. That's what I have anyway and I'm happy with it.
Yep - Samsung

Sony, LG or Samsung - all good
Depends what your budget is.

tv ihave is 40inch wouldu go bigger ie 50 or55
Question Author
right I was on firestick there so not good typing.

I have Samsung myself but there has been like a little "crayon" mark - last week I got up to clean it but this little mark is actually behind the glass screen. I have never heard of this ever.

It seems to be getting bigger but only for this I wouldn't be changing the TV.

There are some 50 and 55 Samsung Argos within my budget BUT I don't want a load of unnecessary stuff so probably only want the basic Smart TV.

What should I choose and if anybody knows of this little mark or to get rid of it - I would be grateful.

going back to 50 or 55 - it will take up a good lot of my corner and cover a bit of the window, so don't know what to do. Thanks for any answers.
mine is panasonic, very pleased
Question Author
yes the Panasonic was a great TV and they were expensive years ago.
Question Author
woof - just looking at the Panasonic and they STILL are expensive. Whoo whoo.

As I said I'm looking for basic TV - ie what is the definition of HD ready or HD - like can you buy them already HD
Question Author
what does this mean on TVs ////4K HDR: 4K///
HD Ready means that it will play recordings made on other devices in HD but the TV's own tuner is not HD. HD means the set has a tuner which will receive HD stations.
Mate of mine has a large screen LG & a blue bar (from Sky news I think) has been "burnt" on to the screen so it's always faintly visible.

Sony were reckoned to be the most technologically advanced but complicated & expensive to fix if they go wrong. Dunno if that's still the case.
4K is even higher quality than HD; some cable/satellite programmes are 4K.
Samsung all the way
You can buy UHD (U = Ultra). Quite a lot of Sky progs are broadcast in UHD.
i have a 40inch screen, Hd, smart tv. takes up one corner of the room, just right.
im keeping my fingers crossed nothing goes wrong with it for the forceeable.

I will live with the wee mark but it will annoy me if it gets any better so will be looking for a TV

Also I noticed when in my sister's house who has the Sony Bravia - her sound comes from the front of TV which I think is great.

My Samsung sound comes from the back of TV - I notice this when I am at the back "cleaning" or other. With my hearing loss I would like front speaking TV which on reading reviews appears to be the Sony.
Question Author
^^^ any bigger
Don't know the answer but I've a Samsung and it seems to be alright so far. Several years old.
