Another Winter Of Discontent?
During the last one, towards the end of Callaghan's premiership, bodies went unburied because the gravediggers were on strike.
I thought I heard on the wireless that the coffin makers are considering industrial action.

no, not comparable, at that time the country was run by the unions, they have no power now, just a few lefty wet dreams. Whilst we have no weaponry approaching TGL we don't need it because she cut off their callejones and made it easy for modern day average politicians to kick their Aprils and they are.

The reality is though that any government would find things tough at the moment. Ever since WWII, every government (of whatever political colour) has taken the easy way out when faced with the choice of cutting expenditure (which would lose them votes) or increasing taxation (which would also lose them votes). i.e. they've simply borrowed yet more money. The mounting debt was already dangerously high when Covid came along and forced the government of the day into yet more borrowing. (Labour might have done things slightly differently but they'd still have had to borrow money to pay for their plans). The Ukraine crisis has simply made matters far worse still. [Brexit hasn't helped either but I'm trying to point out that most of the current problems were caused by both parties in the past and that either party would find things extremely tough at the moment. That would have been true with or without Brexit].
A change of government can't change the nature of the problems faced by our country (and, indeed, by many other countries too). Whichever government might be in power, either now or over the next few years, is going to need to try to reduce inflation. That will inevitably involve wage restraints, which will inevitably lead to yet more dissatisfaction from workers who see their living standards falling.

Most inflation is due to energy and imported foods , and its just as bad in most of Europe or USA for which we cant blame our goverment.

I remember we had hired a hall for a dinner ( 30 covers) and the staff told the organiser at 3pm on the day - ha ha we are going on strike so you WON'T be able to have your dinner tonight which we dont believe in anyay ( excuse me?)
