Anyone know how to turn these off ?

My woman just had an unexpected alarm related to it going to be a bit windy around here in a bit.

I thought that due to some previous government test, the details of which, annoyingly, I can't recall, meant all our mobiles were set to no notification; but it seems not.

I checked the web and all I find is instructions to search for "emergency alerts" in the settings, but that's just frustrating because not only can't I find it, the mobile's search function insists it doesn't exist either.

Can anyone recall how to switch this nonsense off please ?

TIA.

I think I may have found something in apps/messages despite Web advice !  Strange it's own search function found bless all !

If you're not sure whether you've found the right thing or not, scroll down to 'Opting out of emergency alerts' here:

So where are you if you're getting emergency alerts?

An emergent nation?

not sure  ' my woman ' is acceptable these days! and we decide if it's all nonsense by lunchtime tomorrow.

Ooh, I don't know,  Barney, it sounds much nicer than the icy chill of 'my partner', imo

Is someone expecting something dreadful to happen to Wales, Devon and Zummerzet?

Yes, the Met Office!

Oomph, that's a tad more specific than I've seen, haven't been weather watching for a couple of days.

Hope everyone who lives there will be OK.

Bristol.

Can only find out if I found the right switch if they send another.

Cheers all.

Confusing isn't it.

Confusing isn't it.

On my phone I tried searching for emergency alerts and failed, I then search simply for 'Alerts'  and ended up with  options, one being ' wireless emergency alerts ' selecting that gave more options. other options were earthquake alerts and unknown tracker alerts. That's on my One plus phone, and the same occurs with my Woman's 😜 Samsung.

Be careful if you need to be out and about today.

I think getting a newspaper may wait until it drops to 'amber' warning.

So o.g. have you reconsidered your ' load of nonsense' assessment about warnings.

Question Author

No. It was a load of nonsense when conceived, and remains so when they make folk jump out of their skins for a message gor a prediction that we were all already very aware of, having kept our finger on both news and weather reports (and were able to look out of the window to boot).

...FOR...

I didn't get an alert, despite living in the red warning area.
I don't know if it's my phone or my provider that was not compatible with the government's system.
