What is the answer

A man offers another in a pub �100,000 if he will cut his arm off. The man accepts then leaves minus his arm. the other man takes the severed arm into a back room in the pub and puts in on a table. Later some smiling men come into the room look at the arm then leave. What is the solution of this story?

Anyway, was it an artificial arm?

A man walked into a pub,sat down at the bar and spoke to the man next to him. He asked him if he would cut off an arm and if he did,he would give him �100,000. The chap agreed,cut off his arm and got his money and left the pub.The man then went into a back room in the pub and laid the arm on a table and smiled then left the pub. Later on, a group of men came into the pub,went into the back room,saw the arm,smiled and left the pub. Why? Its not an artifical or a coat arm. One clue I've been given is think about occupations. think it is a variation of one i found whilst looking on the net for the answer...the group of men and the man who had offered the guy the money were all shipwrecked on an island (or similar) after a few days/weeks they are all starving so they decide that they each have to sacrifice an arm to eat, one of the men is a surgeon so he manages to amputate the other mens arms (without them losing too much blood, getting infection etc) one by one (e.g one arm a week) until only he is left with both arms, they then get rescued but he agrees to hold up his end of the deal by having his arm amputated. This brings us to the pub, he offers a tramp �100,000 to cut off his arm, the tramp agrees and the man leaves the arm in the back room of the pub (probably the group of men had pre-arranged this to be the time/date/place etc) he smiles because he hasnt had to cut off his own arm, the group of men (who hed been shipwrecked with) come in, see the arm and smile because they are lead to believe that the surgeon has held up his end of the deal
