Seriously, isn't it just a bit much when they are making one section of the population like anti social lepers. Personally I think that it is a bit much, more hatred and venum is spouted againts smokers than rapist and murderers, so what, I have never heard of someone murdering or rapeing after smoking 20 fags. The whole law is ridiculous, why can't pubs vote to be smoking or non smoking, peoples jobs will go, and businesses will go bust.I know the arguement about non smokers going into pubs more often, but they generally are not the life blood of the ordinary pubs, they tend to go to trendy wine bars etc. anyway I shall await all you non smokers up in arms now, but come on, how many people do you know who have died from passive smoking, and don't mention Roy Castle, thats been done. In all my life working in pubs and being a customer I know no one who has succumbed and yet I know a few who have been run down by drink drivers. So whats next ban drinking in pubs, watch this space...

Nearly all the regulars in my pub are smokers and, most have said they wont come out as much, some have given up smoking, but not many.
I think in time people will just get used to it, but until then looks like my day shifts are going to be very lonely.

So excited about not having to clean ash trays tho!!

I undertsnad your feelings mistys but do you not think that the nanny state is going too far, You don't think do you that this will be the end of free will, after the smokers have been put intheir place then the nest set of so called 'bad'people will get the heave ho from society ie drinkers, over weight people, 4 x4 drivers, meat eaters, there are people in high places that just sit at their desks thinking up...."what laws can we bring in next", I need to justify my salary.

As an ex smoker, Im one of the worst for nagging but,saying that,my Grampy literally smoked old rope at sea and smoked until he died at the ripe old age of 96! No signs of cancer anywhere. He fell out of bed and pneumonia set in. Make you think eh?
