Thursday comes from Thor or Thor's day I think.
Similarly Friday is Freya, a Norse deity, wednesday is from Woden aka Odin, main God of Norse Myth, thur is indeed Thor, I guess Saturday is from Saturn, though why the sudden change in pantheons to Roman I don't know. I'll have to Google for tuesday since I forget who that was. Hope this helps

try here for Tuesday, also since Tuesday is Mardi in French this would seem to correspond with Mars.

All are named for the moving objects in the solar system. Objects which did not appear fixed in the sky. Monday is the moon. Some of these work better with French. Lundi/Monday-Moon
Mardi/Tuesday-Mars
Mercredi/Wednesday-Mercury
Jeudi/Thursday-Jupiter (slightly less clear this one)
Vendredi/Friday-Venus
Saturday(easy enough)-Saturn
and of course
Sunday-The Sun
There may some better word comparisons in other languages, but since i'm a scientist and not a linguist, this'll have to do.

English names for days of the week are derived from Anglo-Saxon names for those same seven heavenly bodies that were revered by ancient peoples.

Sunnan daeg (the sun's day)

Monan daeg (the moon's day)

Tiwes daeg (Norse god of war, Tiu, or Tyrs day - the son of Odin)

Wodens daeg  (Odin, or Woden's day, chief god in Norse mythology)

Thurs daeg (Thor's day, Norse god of thunder. Torsdag in Sweden and Denmark.)

Frige daeg (Norse goddess of love, Frigg's day, or Frija. Variation of the Old High German fratag, "day of Frija.")

Satern daeg (Saturn's Day)

As the story goes:

The norse God of thunder, Thor, was going along the clouds on his chariot shouting, "I'm Thor I'm Thor"
After 5 minutes of shouting this his horse gets fed up of this, it turns round and says, "you think your Thor, I'm tho thor I can't Pith."
