...and while I'm on the subject, another phrase for informing on someone is to "Put the bubble in".  Any suggestions as to why?

Cockney rhyming slang - Bubble & Squeak = Speak

I like your thinking but, when I learned rhyming slang, that stood for Greek.
Cockney is not an exact science - it can mean Greek, speak or Laugh (from Bubble Bath)
