what can i say inside a thank you card after staying a weekend with our friends in their beautiful home? i dont just want to put the bog standard stuff, any ideas?

There's nothing wrong with bog standard. Tell them it was very enjoyable and thank them for all the effort they put in to make it so memorable. ( that's if you think they did put in a bit of effort)

Yes, that is lovely, Chris. I do think you should work for Hallmark cards. You have a way with words and I can not top that.
