Is there a rule for which is used when?


Are they just two forms of the same verb used in different tenses or does one refer to motion and the other to time?

For goodness' sake, don't ever write 'LOL' again! Virtually no-one who does write it ever was actually "laughing out loud". Smiling wryly, perhaps, but not laughing out loud.
