Now that Clintons has closed down I can't seem to get an expensive birthday card for sister who will be celebrating 70th birthday. We don't like numbers on our cards. Just a nice card. Any ideas? TIA

good afternoon connemmara.

i gave my mother her birthday card today -- i bought it from a stall at a craft fair a few weeks ago.

you cannot beat an attractive home-made card that has been meticulously made, and is unique.

are there any craft fairs near where you are?
Local newsagent?
One of ours sells hand-made lovely cards. Excellent quality.
Do you have a craft-type shop near you which sells lovely nick-nacks and might do cards?
Happy up-coming birthday to your sister too.
Just because Clintons were expensive doesn't mean they were the best cards. Because Clintons were expensive was probably why they closed down. There are plenty of card shops out there as well as on-line like http://www.funkypigeon.com or if you really want to buy from Clintons look here: http://www.clintoncar.../cards/birthday-cards
ASDA, WH SMITH,THE CARD FACTORY etc.
sssh, yer shouting nessie xx
I buy mine from the card factory. They have an excellent choice.
Sorry ! for shouting I'm a wee scallywag !
lol Nessie, never!! a wee scallywag?! x

Conne, have you ever thought of making a card yourself. It's just a thought, I did one for my then 16 year old, he appreciated the effort (and I am in no way skillful)
Some of the big garden centyres have really nice cards, ones that you cant buy anywhere else too!
Card Factory.... just as good at a fraction of Clintons inflated prices
I hate card factory cards, they look so cheap and nasty.

I mostly buy nice cards from WH Smith or Marks and Spencers.
make your own......
Oh and sometimes Boots have lovely cards (not a big selection though).
I am with JoeLuke on this one. Card Factory are very reasonable and their cards do not look too bad for the price.
Waterstones have some very unusual ones
There's a card shop in Castle St on the Primark side. You might see something there.
All supermarkets sell a pretty good mix of BD cards and occasion cards now
And we still have a Clintons here although they have branched out into selling Yankee candles and other naf bits n bobs
The Card Factory cards are no longer cheap and nasty, they are printed on good quality board and are a third the price of Clintons. I've bought some really nice cards there in the last few weeks. Our Clintons is still open by the way, they haven't all closed down.
Where I work we sell some lovely cards (WH Smith) plus they own funky pigeon too.
