Shouldn't that have been "the fewest number of words"? If not, why not?
↑ That's not what I typed. I copied and pasted this: His motto may well have been,"Say what you mean in the least number of words". and put it between a 'less than' symbol and a 'greater than' symbol, to avoid having too many quotation marks, and when I clicked on 'submit', my answer appeared with the quotation missing.
You're right, Bert, I should have said "fewest", since it deals with number. Typed without thinking, I guess. (Subconscious indoctrination from the likes of Tesco's infamous "10 items or less" signs?) ;-)
