Come on in! Nungate Towers is open for another meeting of AB's Mad Over Fifties! With Queenie and Best Beloved away in Cardiff it's been a struggle to get things organised for tonight's meeting.
As we have another lovely summmer evening, we'll be having most of tonight's meeting out of doors, the fountains are throwing up huge jets of water, all over the gardens the fairy lights will be lighting our evening, the maze is open (a guide is available) there are rowing boats down at the lake, and a marquee is set up on the east lawn, where we have a delicious buffet all set up. Tonight the Tailcock will be the Lost Kitty, named in honour of Queenie's little ginger cat Henry who has been wandering around the Towers like, well, a lost cat! His companion Max is in the cattery (don't ask) and he is missing his human Mummie and I just won't do, despite me putting the grand prix on the tv so he could look for her in the crowd .... (after Barca played of course) For those who wish to remain indoors the hot tub is bubbling away and the mini bar stocked, the minstrels will be on hand to play their usual madrigals and toccattas, and of course all the usual amenities are available to be enjoyed by our members. Our favourite local band The Tone Deafs will be playing in the marquee, and we also have as a special treat, a string quartet playing Mozart's greatest hits in the grotto, (follow the path by the lake, and on past the old oak tree carry on and it's on your left just by the path leading to the beach)
Sadly Queenie had some bad news during the grand prix as her favourite rider came off in a nasty collision and had to be taken to hospital with a suspected broken collar bone - I'm sure she'll get over it, as will he!
So come on down everybody and have a lovely evening!
A warm welcome awaits all who dare enter here
My friend has recently had her leg in plaster and the surgery gave her a plastic cover thing to put over it when she had a shower and she said it was much more efficient than the bin liners she'd used on previous occasions. But, as you said, Nungate, no immersion allowed.
I rarely bathe these days anyway Lady J. I prefer showers, much quicker and I don't have as much trouble getting out of the bath. The aches and pains in the joints make it hard to push myself up and out of the bath and all that
That's fine Daisy, though I do hope they do not harass the little mouse who comes and clears up some of the sunflower seeds dropped by the birds, he seems a solitary little fellow, and I hope the frogs will be alright too (we've couple of resident frogs too, though no pond!)
I had to keep my knee dry when I had stitches - impossible - I used a carrier bag with a hole it the bottom and tied the handles around my leg - still got the dressings wet!
Don't fancy those Tony, I have a couple of walk in showers to choose from (well only one at the moment - the saniflo thing you know) so I don't miss having a bath - have only had one in 3 years! I do like a shower ..
I had my bath taken out for the same reason as Nungate (scary getting out!) and had it changed to a wet room with a drain in the floor. So much more room. Best thing ever.
Ladies and gents, I fear I must take my leave. I need to charge me batteries! Please give my thanks to Nungate for me and have a Tailcock for me, y'all x x
Good heavens Nun! What must you be thinking? Malkin will be teaching Henry how to explain to the mice how to steal food without being caught. Belonged to the SAS before coming to me (invalided out with slight hearing loss) so good at camouflage and living off the land.
Very frog friendly, advanced qualification in French, enjoys the long jump in athletics, happy to compete with his froggy friends.
Perhaps a new friendship to be spawned for Henry!
Ah goodnight Lady J, and goodnoght to you too Mammar, a bientot!
Daisy, the little mouse, cleans up the mess left by the birds which is why I allow him into the garden other wise draws hand across the neck
We must have Malkin tell us of his exploits with the SAS Daisy, perhaps we could book him for a talk one evening?
