I've never known any images that weren't graphic. What does the word graphic mean to you?

Shown or described vividly and in great detail.

To me a graphic description is one that conveys an accurate image. The media seem to use it to mean 'shocking' or 'horrifying'.

Depends on context. Used in your expression it usually suggests not for the weak stomached to look at. But it can have other meanings.

A graphic description used to be one that drew a realistic image in your mind. A graphic image though ...not a photograph then?

some of the words ( signs ) take meanings from the words that precede or follow them. ( definition of a syntagma )

graphic here is changed by being near image and takes on the meaning of horrifying

PP, oui, bien sur mais pourquoi? et quand? It is a relatively recent development though and the word graphic has now taken on a new meaning entirely for no apparent reason other than the sloppy English of news presenters.
