Is the number for today. Minus 20 with the wind-chill, and about 20cm of snow so far. Not a huge storm, but enough to make things "interesting". I don't think I'll be crossing the field later on this afternoon...I know, I know: I'm quite nesh:)

How did your clock trip go with your pal?
Question Author
It was interesting, cupid04. I'll post a picture of the one I bought.
Have you ever considered a pipeline for winter use, Stuey?
Glad you've got it and not me.

Coldest I've been is about -15C and I decided that was enough ☺☺☺
Nesh?
-28 with the wind chill here (Montreal) with a very fine snow thats blowing down. Will venture out for something to eat later. I could go underground but I'm going to go in the street just for the hell of it.

I picked up the word "nesh" as a child in England years ago. Here's a photo of the clock (it's a little blurry) I got for $25. It's an Elias Ingram 8 day mantle clock made in December, 1928 in Bristol Connecticut. http://i57.tinypic.com/29m87f6.jpg
Question Author
Pretty cool too in Montreal, 237SJ.
...Dare I ask...where are the hands?
Question Author
I took the movement out of the clock in order to dismantle and clean it. So the first thing to do is remove the hands so that I can pull the "works" out from the back.
Okey doke...thanks for letting me know!
Question Author
Here is a photo of the front of the movement, the part right behind the dial. Notice the dirt and rust. That long "rod" in the middle pokes through the hole in the dial and has the hands attached to it Actually, for 86 years old it doesn't look too bad. http://i59.tinypic.com/2mxqtf7.jpg
How long will it take you to clean it up and look like new?

Did your mate buy any clocks as well?
Question Author
For the movement and the case, about two weeks (a couple or so hours a day.) My friend ended up buying four mantle clocks for $160.
Is that made from real marble or is it painted slate, many years ago I used to restore the marble on such clocks, and on many other item of marble furniture.
Question Author
You know, RATTER15, I'm not sure yet. I'll do the movement first, and then check out the case. It's quite heavy: eight pounds without the movement.
Question Author
Two of the clocks that my friend bought are on the bottm shelf next to the truncated propeller. http://i61.tinypic.com/aetgs9.jpg
Question Author
Anyway, as I mentioned before, I didn't tromp across the field today: I'll wait for a couple of days for other people to blaze a trail for me. "Blaze" that's a good word for a cold evening:) Just sitting here in me fur-lined house coat; sipping on a can of Red Bull beer (7.1%); smoking a fag; and playing on the computer...What else could I possibly want?
Spring?
Question Author
Funny you should mention Spring, Zacs-Master, because i just carefully let down a couple. Spring would be nice, but that would be wishing away time, and it travels fast enough as it is:)
