Who Remembers The Phrase Itchy Chin?
7 Answers
This was something I used to hear all the time in the school playground around the mid-eighties, but I don't think I've heard it at all since. "Itchy chin", accompanied by chin-scratching gesture, meant 'I don't believe you.'
It's listed on that terribly-reliable (ahem) source of information, Urban Dictionary, so I know it wasn't just a local thing.
But why was it such a popular phrase for just a couple of years, before pretty much disappearing?
