Does anyone know the origin of the saying: "What goes round comes round?"

I am sure quizmonster is correct. Until I read his post, I thought it was my mother who originated this.

It's from the old 'wheel of life' adage. Seriously (see 'tarot' etc), in folklore it was seen that life went cyclically (sp?) so that what you did in one cycle of you life affected another.
