A life lived in fear is a life half lived

I heard it on Strictly Ballroom
"You can't live your life by twee phrases from the internet".
Lol, douglas. My Picasso one is on a postcard bought from whichever museum I was in. It's stuck on my bedroom mirror, as important things should be. ;)
Golden rule:

'Do as you would be done by' - universal across all faiths....

Christianity: Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law of the prophets. (Matthew, 7:12)

Judaism: What is hateful to you, do not to your fellowmen. That is the entire Law; all the rest is commentary. (Talmud, Shabbat, 31a)

Brahmanism: This is the sum of duty; do naught unto others which would cause you pain if done to you. (Mahabharata, 5, 1517)

Buddhism: Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful. (Udana-Varga, 5, 18)

Confucianism: Surely it is the maxim of loving-kindness: Do not unto others that you would not have them do unto you. (Analects, 15, 23)

Taoism: Regard you neighbor's gain as your own gain and your neighbor's loss as your own loss. (T'ai Shang Kan Ying P'ien)

Zoroastrianism: That nature alone is good which refrains from doing unto another whatsoever is not good for itself. (Dadistan-i-dinik, 94, 5)

Islam: No one of you is a believer until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself. (Sunnah)

I'll live my life as I see best. I'll wear dark glasses or roses specs
"You can't trust quotes you find on the internet."
-Abraham Lincoln
Take better care of your teeth and **** a lot more.
Arthur Hugh Clough. 1819–1861

Say not the Struggle Naught availeth

SAY not the struggle naught availeth,
The labour and the wounds are vain,
The enemy faints not, nor faileth,
And as things have been they remain.

If hopes were dupes, fears may be liars;
It may be, in yon smoke conceal'd,
Your comrades chase e'en now the fliers,
And, but for you, possess the field.

For while the tired waves, vainly breaking,
Seem here no painful inch to gain,
Far back, through creeks and inlets making,
Comes silent, flooding in, the main.

And not by eastern windows only,
When daylight comes, comes in the light;
In front the sun climbs slow, how slowly!
But westward, look, the land is bright!

One of my favourites....it was on Endeavour on Sunday but I learned it in school.
Never give up the right to be odd.
