Hi joe,I didn't know a morning suit was worn on posh nights out! morning dress usually consisting of grey pin-striped trousers and either a black jacket or a tail coat -also black- is either worn for weddings or in the case of a black jacket ,a restaurante manager/hotel manager etc.If on the other hand a formal invitation requested black tie, you would probably wear evening dress - for posh nights out!! If the invitation said white tie,you could be even more posh which could involve a black tail claw-hammer coat and a white bow tie !!!

I am sure I have got you hopelessly confused by now but its' roughly what happens!

Ya schmuck ! a morning suit is very often worn in the morning. Make up your own - any black jacket and grey pinstripe trousers will do, and looks very smart.

For evening wear you need an erm evening suit or wear.

Dinner jacket = tuxedo

white tie (and tails ) now very rarely worn

Okay peter pedant I get it now! It just goes to show how often i get out ;-)
Ha! I always thought a morning suit was a mourning suit - silly girl that I am! And so equated 'posh nights out' as boring...
