Lovely poem zabado! hope you don't mind if I ask dannyk13 if he also has a link to Bendix by John Updike please?
its ok, I've found it.
He'll hide in a barn and keep himself warm
And hide his head under his wing, poor thing.

Learnt this when I was a very small child.
It brings back happy memories of my grandma saying it to me - just the first verse and over 70 years ago.
