What really gets me is "you're joking
me" it's all wrong!! I'll stick with the old fashioned "you're joking" or "you're joking with me"
As AH says using different words for things is natural evolution of language and it can be annoying but what I cannot abide is when the word is not just mis pronounced it's pronounced as a different word. eg Nucular! aaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhh!
Cerstificates! ;0))
14.27 heading off
Maybe they're saying "should've", Wilts. But probably not.
I think you're wrong, Piggy. :-)
15.10 i dont think so, but if youre happy to say " headed off" thats fine by me. ; )
anyway i´m heading off to bed now. lol
Oh Piggy. I used headed because Pasta and I were bantering. Think about it. :-))
Sometimes the variances are local, and form part of a specific regional dialect. If you like your English correct, proper, and exact please don't venture into the Black Country your head will explode. I am sure I read many moons ago that the Black Country dialect and pronunciation is far closer to Old English.
Never mind pasta, the nice girls like you whatever nationality you are. You’re more popular than the Scots on AB . Lol .
Anne...I almost choked on my chicken.
I think it's a 'thank you'... :)
15.22 there's the written word and there's the spoken word,I'd like to think most people don't speak the sand as they write.
Btw i support a black country team, i used to be quite fluent in ' yam yam'. Lol
*same
Ironic!!!
I'm hearing "no worries" as a response to "thank you", more and more.
Did it originate in Australia?
The one that annoys me is leaving off the G at the end of a word. Goin, readin, walkin, etc, is just sloppy, nothing to do with dialect or anything else.
awesome!! aaarrrrggghhh!!
Are yo a Baggie then Piggynowse
I have a slight speech impediment from having to learn English when we moved here, there are words I cannot say like specific, plain and Dracula!
I would hate anyone to think I was thick because I couldn’t say a few words
"My bad."
"Enjoy!"
