//Greta Thunberg accuses Israel of ‘artwashing’ reputation through Eurovision//

Not content with driving her own bandwagon, she's now jumped on another.   Is 'artwashing' some form of Newspeak?  I've never heard of it.

Just 'sportwashing' but with more flamboyance, but you knew that.

I'm guessing 'art-washing' is akin to 'sports-washing', Naomi. Such as dodgy countries buying our Premier League clubs (think Newcastle Utd) and trying to take over world golfing.

I've never heard of that either Ken.  I'm obviously not keeping up with current trends.  Can't think why.

Unsurprised.

Haha. Mockery is the most effective criticism is it not.

Very good, Togo.

We are now witnessing a hysterical teenager transforming into her hysterical twenties.

Though she, like Liberace, is 'laughing all the way to the bank'; she's a millionaire and doesn't deny it, but says the money comes from a awards.

Stop making stupid people famous.

Is that letter real?

It reads like a Craig Brown spoof.

Who honestly cares what this deluded child thinks about anything?

The Israeli contestant's name is Golan ... surely that's the height of mockery.

Anyhow, to the point. Russia is banned from Eurovision at present, Israel is not - both of those choices are definitely political in nature.

so she has according to her : From her first moments in the spotlight, Greta has been open about her autism (she uses the term Asperger's syndrome), obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), and selective mutism. Greta has spoken about her diagnosis saying it makes her “different” but that she considers it a “superpower”:  erm super nice get out of jail free card, also explains her lack of education somewhat...

Greta says that her Barbie collection will not be complete until she gets the Klaus Barbie.

Togo, does she have that austrian fellow with the moustache after all one needs completeness.

"Russia is banned from Eurovision"

Technically incorrect: Russia disqualified itself from Eurovision by withdrawing from the EBU. Although they'd have been kicked out in 2022 anyway.

Whatever you think of the Gaza war there is in any case no comparison between Russia and Israel.

As for GT: very disappointing.

"Is that letter real?"

If you ever wondered how scammers succeed...

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russia%E2%80%93Ukraine_relations_in_the_Eurovision_Song_Contest#Exclusion_of_Russia

The following day, the EBU announced that Russia was excluded from participating in the contest, stating that "in light of the unprecedented crisis in Ukraine, the inclusion of a Russian entry in this year's Contest would bring the competition into disrepute."

And after that, Russia quit.

I though that Tracey Emin had the corner on artwashing given her soiled underwear exhibit at The Tate a number of years ago....

Just like all the other annoying lefties, they flit from one bandwagon to another. All they are are professional anarchists and trouble causes helped along by the usual useful idiots trying to achieve a socialist marxist society by force.

Ellipsis my point is that Russia is technically not banned from the contest: so it's a bit mischievous to imply favouritism towards Israel. I'm as appalled as anyone by the loss of innocent Palestinian  lives but the fact is that Israel is doing what Russia "claims" (falsely) to be doing in Ukraine: ie rooting out a terrorist threat to it and indeed the region. My simplistic view simply is that Russia's crimes are so egregious that it has no place in the civilised community of  European states be it for trade, sport, singing or whatever. Eurovision has rightly pulled Israel up for overtly politicising its entry and Israel has complied. And as far as I am concerned at least they have done was reasonably expected of them. Meanwhile Thunberg and Co are at liberty to protest: provided its done in a non-threatening manner.
