I know I've seen it mentioned before, but am having a senior moment. What is the word that's been coined here for when two ABers submit the same answer at exactly the same time?

Synchronicity !
or... synchography, was it? ('graph' meaning writing). Quizmonster will know, as I suspect he invented it
pffft... I meant synchrography, with an R
Probably synchrography, come to think of it. 'Tis one or the other ..I think we bandy them both about on Q&P.

Synchrography. That's the word I've seen.

Thanks a lot.

I certainly introduced 'synchrography' to AnswerBank some years ago. Indeed, I believed I'd actually coined the word until another ABer found someone else had used it - though not to mean quite the same thing - back in 1998!
Of course I based on the Greek root words suggesting 'simultaneous writing' in much the same way as there is a gear-system called 'synchromesh' and a camera lighting system called 'synchroflash'.
Certainly, I will never use 'synchronicity' in these circumstances, since there is no element in that word referring specifically to writing...ie producing words on the keyboard, which is what we are doing here.
You are more than welcome to use synchrography, SeaJayPea!

It's a great new word, says exactly what it means. I've just checked the latest Chambers, it's not there yet but it can only be a matter of time, especially if it appears here a lot!

Thanks a lot

Couldn't we just downsize it to "synning"?
Ah, yes, Alto! Then you could use the famous message in Latin: "Peccavi"..."I have sinned" (Sind), couldn't you? Personally, I'll stick with my original, though.
repent, ye synchrographers!
It's all my fault .!
Forgive me QM for I have sinned or should that be synned.Or sind even...Doh!
Ma'am, you can do no wrong in my eyes, so hence: "Absolvo te!"

'Synchrography?'-what an ugly word-just say it-doesn't scan does it?

Synchronicity sounds and scans better and adequately describes a contemporary existence or occurence.

Well, searchme, it sounds OK to me, and is far more precise. The language is a living thing. On the rare occasions when it's apt on here, I'll use it.

Just realised this could be interpreted as me getting on my high horse. Please believe me, I'm not.

Cheers

getting on your high horse, that'd be, um, altohippocity. Unless QM can think of a better one.

Well, Searchme, synchrography has exactly the same rhythm pattern as photography, cryptography and topography. Are they all ugly and 'unscanning', too?

I can't in all honesty, J, approve of a word that links Latin and Greek root words thus. For example, of an evening, I do occasionally have a glance at the telescope rather than the television for that very reason! Cheers

what was the original question?!!!
Is SNAP too simple?
