hi just curious how this expresion came to be someone not doing there share of work etc.

there seem to be quite a few suggestions on the net for the answer to this one but most of them are as follows:


Mickey (Bliss) - Rhyming Slang for **** (urinate). Thus, when someone is described as 'taking the Mickey', they are taking the ****, i.e.. mocking. Also sometimes changed to 'taking the Michael'.
