I have been told that I should be....
:Good at something in this case.
With the language used being: "you should be good at _ _by now". My immediate interpretation of this persons implied meaning was that i'm NOT good at_ _.
Anyone see this any other way? The perpetrator was male and revoked my reproach. How do you deal with this stuff respectfully?

it's just possible he was saying you were good at it, if the emphasis was on the last two words: 'You're good at it, and so you should be by now' (meaning you've had plenty of time to learn it). As to how to deal with it: if he's your boss, just grin and bear it. If he's not, ignore it: his speech was not helpful or complimentary, and need not be taken to heart.
