In London the police radio controller is always called MP. I assumed this meant Metropolitan police but wondered if it's national and means something else?

When Auntie Beeb started broadcasting radio, the call sign was 2LO ( London ), I wonder if when the police started, their call sign was 3LO ( as in 'ello, ;ello, 'ello ) ?

I used to thik an ( i c 1 ) was someone who had fallen into the frozen village duck pond after staggering back from the pub ;-)

I think I got the IC (Identity code) answer here as well including all 6 or so varieties. I expect someone on the inside will arrive eventually, they usually do if you're driving with a broken bulb...
