Calling all Americans!! - What is the difference between a Condo and a Co-operative?

Condo, an abbreviation of 'condominium', is, for example, an apartment owned by an individual in a block of flats. Common areas (such as the grounds, and parts of the building used by everyone), are owned jointly with other owners.
Co-operative means ownership and management by a group of individuals working together.
