That's kind like asking "If shampoo comes in so many colours, why is the lather on your head always white?" No real answer, but in the same vein one site suggests the South American Llama and writes an entertaining essay as why that may well be true here
There was an olde saying in Galeic that the best thing in the world is shelled peas. it probably predates the aphorism about sliced bread...so may be the answer (which is entirely made up) is shelled peas
Personally, I'm not a big fan of sliced bread. I much prefer unsliced. 'The best thing since unsliced bread' doesn't quite have the same ring to it, though
There was infinite nothingness before sliced bread. Only matter and anti-matter, which thusly collided, producing the proportioned bread we have today. FACT.
not too sure, my history doesnt go back that far, but im quite sure the next best thing will be perferated bread, cos u cud change the thickness and just rip along the dotted lines
Maybe fresh Butter sold from big block and could purchase from corner shops the shop keeper used to cut a little block off any size you required pat it to shape with two wooden patters really a delight on unsliced thick fresh bread just out of the oven bread purchased from local bread shop who usually baked thier own
But only a thing of the past really mmmmmmmm
