What is a scottish drinking phrase?

Someone even invented the word 'clochandichter' to mean the drink before the one for the road!

To add to what TCL said, Sl�inte mhaith is often corrupted by non-Gaelic speakers who don't know any better to 'Slange Var'

Reek = smoke and lum = chimney...hence, long may your chimney smoke. That is, literally, may you always have the means to buy fuel or, more generally, long may you prosper.

maxximus -I don't really want to contradict you here but I am fairly positive 'lang mae yer lum rique' actually means -Long may your chimney have smoke......as in may you be prosperous enough to afford fuel for your home fire !
